Employment and Labor Law Attorney, Professional Speaker, Educator Albert is a management-sided employment and labor law attorney who is a long-standing member of the HRAA and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh – Johnstown. He been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® (Employment Law – Management, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023). Since 1992, Albert has provided workplace-related legal advice to clients that range from some of the largest international companies and insurers to regional family-owned businesses and are concentrated in the manufacturing, healthcare/senior care, educational, technology, financial, and service sectors. He is a Shareholder with Tucker Arensberg, P.C., a business-minded law firm with roots dating back to 1900. The firm has been recognized with a First-Tier National Ranking in the U.S. News World Report/Best Lawyers® Best Law Firms edition and the 2013 Pittsburgh Business Ethics Award (in the “Large Company” category) from the Society of Financial Service Professionals, Pittsburgh Chapter. Albert serves many roles at Tucker Arensberg, P.C. He sits on the firm’s Board of Directors, serves as its General Counsel for employment matters, chairs its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and co-chairs its Labor and Employment Practice Group, Healthcare Practice Group, Client Development Group, and Associate Business Development Program. Albert has deep and broad experience in virtually all areas of employment and labor law. For example, he has defended wage-and-hour/compensation lawsuits and federal employment discrimination trials, resolved government agency investigations, counselled clients regarding union organizing campaigns, negotiated union contracts, handled labor arbitrations, appeared regularly before the NRLB, audited pay practices/procedures, revised employment handbooks, conducted workplace investigations, drafted and enforced non-competition and other employment agreements, given strategic advice on employment practices and philosophies, handled workers’ compensation and unemployment compensation hearings, and provided guidance on day-to-day matters such as FMLA situations, employee disciplines and discharges. Albert has taught employment law courses for nearly thirty years. In addition to UPJ, he is a member of the adjunct faculty of Penn State University – New Kensington, and La Roche College. Since the mid-1990’s, Albert has also devoted a significant part of his practice to counseling, training, and educating executives, HR professionals, in-house attorneys and all levels of managers and supervisors. He speaks frequently for HR associations and other trade/business groups. Albert received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
